Fatalities Mount as Victims of Reckless Driving Await Justice

Nagpur: In yet another tragic hit-and-run incident in Maharashtra, a 23-year-old man named Rahul Khairwar lost his life after being fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle in Nagpur city. According to officials, the incident occurred late on Sunday night along the Katol Road bypass. Rahul Khairwar, hailing from Madhya Pradesh, was the unfortunate victim, confirmed authorities from the Gittikhadan police station. Notably, there were no CCTV cameras in the vicinity to record the incident, complicating the ongoing investigation.

The police have registered a case against an unidentified individual and are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the perpetrator responsible for this senseless tragedy.

This incident follows a recent case on February 25, where a woman allegedly drove her Mercedes recklessly under the influence of alcohol on the Ram Jhula bridge in Nagpur, resulting in the deaths of two scooter riders. After eluding authorities for more than four months, she surrendered on July 1 and was subsequently arrested, only to be released by a court on July 2, terming her arrest unlawful.

In another grim episode on the same day, a BMW car in Mumbai's Worli area struck a two-wheeler, dragging and fatally injuring a woman who was later run over by the vehicle. The occupants fled the scene, prompting a search by Mumbai Police. Two individuals have been apprehended in connection with the incident, while the primary accused, identified as Mihir Shah, remains at large.

Mumbai Police have issued a lookout notice against Mihir Shah and mobilized six teams to track down and bring him to justice. The incident has underscored concerns over road safety and the need for stringent measures to curb reckless driving and hit-and-run accidents across Maharashtra.
