Tushar Giri Nath Urges Vigorous Dengue Control Measures and Civic Improvements
Bengaluru: In a meeting
held at Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML), Chief Commissioner
Tushar Giri Nath of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) instructed
senior officials to intensify efforts in controlling the dengue outbreak across
the city.
Addressing
the gathering on Tuesday, Nath highlighted the alarming statistics of dengue
cases, with an average of 150 to 160 cases reported daily and a total of 3304
cases recorded since July 1. Underscoring the urgency of the situation, he
called for proactive measures in all zones to curb the spread of the disease.
Nath
directed Zonal Commissioners to conduct daily meetings with Health Department
officials to monitor dengue control activities rigorously. He proposed the
distribution of Deet cream and neem oil in hotspot areas to combat mosquito
breeding, alongside intensified fogging and spraying efforts.
In addition
to dengue control, Nath stressed the need for oversight on healthcare costs,
instructing officials to scrutinize hospital charges and take action against
those violating government pricing regulations.
Turning to
civic issues, Nath urged immediate action to repair potholes on major city
roads, announcing the imminent launch of a new pothole repair software aimed at
enhancing efficiency in road maintenance.
Highlighting
educational initiatives, Nath called for a comprehensive survey of
out-of-school children under BBMP jurisdiction, demanding swift reports from
officials on the status of such children in each zone.
Lastly, Nath
underscored the importance of property tax collection, directing Zonal
Commissioners and Joint Commissioners to expedite the recovery process from
defaulters, including those under the one-time settlement scheme.
