Tushar Giri Nath Urges Vigorous Dengue Control Measures and Civic Improvements

Bengaluru: In a meeting held at Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML), Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) instructed senior officials to intensify efforts in controlling the dengue outbreak across the city.

Addressing the gathering on Tuesday, Nath highlighted the alarming statistics of dengue cases, with an average of 150 to 160 cases reported daily and a total of 3304 cases recorded since July 1. Underscoring the urgency of the situation, he called for proactive measures in all zones to curb the spread of the disease.

Nath directed Zonal Commissioners to conduct daily meetings with Health Department officials to monitor dengue control activities rigorously. He proposed the distribution of Deet cream and neem oil in hotspot areas to combat mosquito breeding, alongside intensified fogging and spraying efforts.

In addition to dengue control, Nath stressed the need for oversight on healthcare costs, instructing officials to scrutinize hospital charges and take action against those violating government pricing regulations.

Turning to civic issues, Nath urged immediate action to repair potholes on major city roads, announcing the imminent launch of a new pothole repair software aimed at enhancing efficiency in road maintenance.

Highlighting educational initiatives, Nath called for a comprehensive survey of out-of-school children under BBMP jurisdiction, demanding swift reports from officials on the status of such children in each zone.

Lastly, Nath underscored the importance of property tax collection, directing Zonal Commissioners and Joint Commissioners to expedite the recovery process from defaulters, including those under the one-time settlement scheme.
