Bengaluru: The investigation into the Renukaswamy murder case faces delays as police struggle to retrieve a crucial video from an accused's iPhone. The lack of high-end retrieval software in Karnataka's cyber labs has led to complications.
Darshan recorded the video while assaulting Renukaswamy and later deleted it. Pradosh, in police custody, possessed the iPhone now sent to the CID cyber lab for data recovery. However, Karnataka lacks the necessary software for high-end iPhone data retrieval, which costs around Rs 5 crore.
Software companies do not offer rental options for this software, necessitating a complete purchase. Due to the high cost, CID hesitates to buy it, opting to send the device to other states like Ahmedabad, where such labs exist. These labs charge Rs 3-5 lakh per retrieval, causing further delays as cases are processed in order of arrival.
The delayed retrieval of this crucial evidence is hindering the progress of the investigation.
