Students Question Safety After Commerce Block Incident

Bengaluru: A portion of the ceiling in the commerce block of the Government Arts College collapsed on Saturday night, raising serious concerns about infrastructure safety in the institution. The impact broke benches in Room No. 11 of the newly constructed Department of Commerce and Management building near Bangalore Gas College.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the incident occurred after college hours. However, students and faculty expressed concern over the potential risk if the collapse had taken place during classes. The classroom was being used for final-year BCom classes, and had the incident occurred during teaching hours, it could have endangered the lives of students and lecturers.

Students have blamed poor construction quality for the incident and questioned the government’s accountability in ensuring safety standards. They urged authorities to take immediate action to prevent such occurrences in the future.
