Hospital Forms Inquiry Committee; Family Alleges Negligence

Lalitpur: A newborn's head was eaten by stray dogs at Lalitpur Medical College, triggering controversy and allegations of negligence. The incident occurred on Tuesday when dogs were seen feeding on the infant's remains within the hospital premises.

The baby was born on February 9 at the District Women's Hospital and was admitted to the Special Neonatal Care Unit (SNCU) due to low birth weight. The hospital administration became aware of the incident on Tuesday afternoon when the headless body was discovered on the ground. Family members allegedly discarded the remains in a plastic bag. The hospital tag on the body confirmed the identity of the child.

Lalitpur Medical College Principal D. Nath has formed a four-member committee to investigate and submit a report within 24 hours.

Hospital authorities stated that the baby had died by evening, and the body was handed over to the family. Dr. Singh confirmed that the child's aunt collected the body, with her thumb impression recorded as proof.

Past incidents of negligence have been reported at the hospital, raising concerns about security and patient care.
