Incident Reported in Kadugodi; Police Investigating
Bengaluru: A 15-year-old girl died by suicide after jumping from the 20th floor of her apartment in Kadugodi on Wednesday, allegedly after being stopped from using her mobile phone.
The deceased, Avantika Chourasia, was a Class 10 student at a private CBSE school in Whitefield. According to police, she had been spending time on her phone despite upcoming exams scheduled for February 15. Her mother objected and urged her to focus on studies. Moments later, she reportedly took the extreme step.
Her family hails from Madhya Pradesh. Her father is an engineer, and her mother is a homemaker. Kadugodi police are investigating the case, and official statements from the parents are yet to be recorded. A case of Unnatural Death Report (UDR) has been registered.
This incident follows two recent student suicides in the region. On February 4, a 24-year-old postgraduate student at Bengaluru University was found dead in her hostel room. On February 6, a 19-year-old nursing student in Ramanagara allegedly died by suicide, with her parents blaming college pressure.
Authorities have urged students to seek support for academic stress and mental health concerns.
