Talaghattapura Police Crack Multi-Station Theft Ring, Accused Linked to 7 Bike Thefts Across City


Bengaluru: In a major breakthrough in a string of vehicle thefts across South Bengaluru, Talaghattapura Police have arrested a habitual offender involved in stealing multiple two-wheelers. With his arrest, the police have successfully cracked seven vehicle theft cases reported across five police jurisdictions, recovering bikes worth ₹5 lakh.


Complainant’s Bike Vanishes During Daytime Visit

The case began on May 2, when a resident of Telecom Layout filed a complaint at Talaghattapura Police Station. The complainant stated that they had attended a program at a friend’s residence in Ganigarapalya, Talaghattapura, and parked their two-wheeler on 4th Main Road.

"After returning in the afternoon, I was shocked to find my vehicle missing. Someone had stolen it in broad daylight," the complainant stated in their police report.

A formal case of vehicle theft was registered under IPC Section 379, and investigation was launched immediately.

Breakthrough on May 24: One Arrest, Seven Cases Cracked

Based on intel gathered from multiple sources and informants, police narrowed down a suspect. On May 24, they detained a person along with a suspicious two-wheeler. Upon interrogation, the individual confessed to the theft of the vehicle linked to the May 2 case.


The accused, now in judicial custody, turned out to be a serial vehicle thief operating across Bengaluru and the outskirts. During intensive questioning, he admitted to stealing six other two-wheelers from various police station limits.

  2. 01 stolen bike – Parappana Agrahara Police Station

  3. 01 stolen bike – Kanakapura Police Station

  4. 01 stolen bike – Harohalli Police Station

  5. 01 stolen bike – Kaggalipura Police Station

Bikes Seized, Accused in Custody

All seven two-wheelers were recovered on the same day based on information provided by the accused. The total value of the seized vehicles is estimated at ₹5 lakh.

"The accused was produced before the magistrate on May 25 and has been remanded to judicial custody," police sources confirmed.

The arrest marks a major success in curbing two-wheeler thefts in South Bengaluru, a crime category that has seen a spike in recent months.

Police Continue Crackdown on Vehicle Theft Networks

Talaghattapura police said that investigations are ongoing to determine whether the accused is linked to any broader vehicle theft syndicates or acted independently. Further arrests and recoveries are expected in the coming days.
