Suhas Shetty’s Brutal Killing Sparks Political Firestorm, BJP Accuses Congress of Appeasement and Lawlessness
Bengaluru: The cold-blooded murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty in Mangaluru has ignited a massive political storm in Karnataka, with the BJP launching scathing attacks on the Congress government, accusing it of appeasement politics and failure to maintain law and order.
Leader of Opposition R. Ashok accused the Siddaramaiah-led Congress regime of emboldening "fanatical jihadi elements" through its alleged anti-Hindu appeasement policies. “In the past 22 months, Hindu activists have been continuously targeted. The Congress government’s excessive pampering of such forces is creating a situation where Hindus are suppressed and murdered,” Ashok charged, referring to past killings of activists like Paresh Mesta, Prashant Poojary, Sharath Madiwala, and Rudresh.
BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra termed the killing of Suhas Shetty a “gruesome and premeditated act” and alleged complete collapse of law and order under Congress. “Goons and anti-social elements are freely engaging in murder, extortion, rape, and atrocities. The murder of Suhas on a public road is a chilling reminder of where Karnataka is headed,” he said, demanding an investigation into possible intelligence failure.
Mangaluru BJP MP Nalin Kumar Kateel added that Suhas Shetty was a “victim of fanatic hatred” and held the Congress government directly responsible for emboldening such forces. He also prayed for the recovery of another Hindu activist injured in the same attack.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, BJP leaders compared the deteriorating security atmosphere in Karnataka to the communal unrest of Kashmir, warning that the state risks becoming “another Pakistan” if urgent corrective action is not taken.
Calls for gubernatorial intervention have intensified, with BJP leaders urging the Governor to step in and restore law and order. The party has also expressed solidarity with Suhas Shetty’s family, praying for peace and strength during this time of grief.
As tensions rise and political rhetoric escalates, the state remains gripped by fear, anger, and a growing demand for justice.
