Online Applications Open from May 26; Girl Students in Karnataka Continue to Travel Free Under Shakti Scheme
Bengaluru: In a significant move to ease transportation for the student community, the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will start issuing student bus passes at concessional rates for the academic year 2025–26 starting June 1, 2025, following directions from the Government of Karnataka.
Online applications for the passes can be submitted from May 26, 2025, through the Seva Sindhu online portal: https://sevasindhu.karnataka.gov.in.
"This initiative continues BMTC’s long-standing commitment to providing affordable public transport options to the student community in Bengaluru."
said a senior BMTC official.
Where and How to Apply:
Students can apply through the Seva Sindhu online portal or visit Bangalore One centers. Passes will be issued at the following locations between 8:00 AM and 6:30 PM, all days of the week:

Free Travel for Girl Students Under Shakti Scheme:
Under the Shakti Scheme, girl students who are residents of Karnataka are entitled to free travel in ordinary BMTC services. This scheme continues to be a game-changer for enhancing access to education and empowering girls through hassle-free commuting.
“Karnataka’s girl students can continue to benefit from the Shakti Scheme, which allows free travel in BMTC’s ordinary buses, promoting inclusive and accessible education.”
