Bengaluru: In a shocking and disturbing incident that has rocked the residents of Kadugodi, a self-proclaimed dance instructor has been arrested for allegedly luring and sexually harassing a minor girl. The accused, identified as Bharathi Kannan (28), now finds himself behind bars, becoming what many on social media are calling a “guest of the police.”
The incident reportedly took place on the morning of May 24, when the minor girl was walking along the road in Kadugodi. It was then that the accused, Bharathi Kannan, who was walking nearby, noticed the girl and allegedly hatched a disturbing plan. He stopped a car near the girl and introduced himself as a dance master, pretending to offer her details about dance classes. Under this false pretext, he lured the girl into the car, an act which later escalated into an alleged case of sexual harassment.
“The accused misused the girl's innocence by disguising his intent under the mask of a dance teacher. This is not just a betrayal of trust but a grotesque crime against childhood,” said a senior official from Kadugodi Police Station.
Upon sensing something was wrong, the minor resisted and eventually, the accused dropped her back at the same location. However, the traumatic incident left the young girl visibly shaken. She informed her parents, who wasted no time in taking the matter to the authorities.
Acting promptly on the complaint, the Kadugodi police registered a case and arrested Bharathi Kannan. The investigation is underway, with officials probing if the accused has a history of similar behaviour or if other victims are yet to come forward.
“The safety of our children is non-negotiable. We are taking this case very seriously and ensuring that justice is delivered swiftly,” the police added.
This incident has sparked massive outrage among local residents and netizens alike, with many calling for stricter background checks on individuals claiming to be professional trainers or educators for minors.
