PSI Nagaraj of Electronic City Traffic Police Dies After Bus Rams Bike, Crashes into Ditch; Shocking Negligence Behind Tragedy

Kanakapura: In a horrifying road mishap on Monday morning, two people, including a police sub-inspector, lost their lives, and four others sustained critical injuries after a KSRTC bus overturned on the Bengaluru-Kanakapura Road near Kaggalipura Police Station.

The deceased have been identified as PSI Nagaraj, who was serving with the Electronic City Traffic Police, and an unidentified civilian who was riding pillion with him.

"It was a scene of utter chaos. The bus hit the divider, lost control, ran over the bike, and plunged into a ditch," said an eyewitness who rushed to help before emergency teams arrived.

How the Tragedy Unfolded

The KSRTC bus was en route from Kanakapura to Bengaluru when the driver reportedly lost control near the Kaggalipura police limits. The vehicle veered off the road, struck a road divider, rammed into the two-wheeler carrying PSI Nagaraj and the civilian, and toppled into a ditch.

"PSI Nagaraj was on his way to duty when the bus hit his motorcycle. Both riders died on the spot due to the impact," said an officer from Kaggalipura police station.

Multiple Critical Injuries Reported

Among the four injured passengers, one has been shifted to NIMHANS due to suspected head trauma, while the remaining three are under intensive care at Dayananda Sagar Hospital. Doctors say their condition remains serious but stable.

Negligence Under Scanner: Questions Raised

Initial reports suggest that rash driving and overspeeding may have led to the crash. Eyewitnesses claim the driver was negotiating a curve at high speed, despite wet and slippery road conditions due to recent rains.

“Every day we see these buses overspeeding on this stretch. It’s a disaster waiting to happen,” a local resident told News Flash.

The Kaggalipura Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the driver’s negligence, including a mechanical inspection of the bus.

PSI Nagaraj: A Life Cut Short in Service

The loss of Police Sub-Inspector Nagaraj has sent shockwaves through the Bengaluru Police Department. Known for his dedication to duty and calm demeanour, Nagaraj's sudden demise has left colleagues and friends in mourning.

“He was one of the most committed officers in our station. His death is a huge loss for the force and his family,” said a senior officer from Electronic City Traffic Police Station.

He is survived by his wife and two children, sources confirmed.

Highway of Horror: When Will KSRTC Be Held Accountable?

This latest accident on the busy Bengaluru-Kanakapura corridor once again exposes the grim state of road safety, with reckless driving, poor road design, and lack of enforcement creating a deadly mix. Despite multiple warnings and past incidents, KSRTC drivers are often accused of speeding, especially on early morning trips.

Authorities are now under pressure to review speed control systems, driver training, and emergency response protocols on this highway.
