Three-Tier Coastal Security Activated; CM Siddaramaiah to Chair Emergency Review Meeting on State Preparedness
Bengaluru: As tensions between India and Pakistan continue to escalate, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara announced on Saturday that no police leave will be sanctioned until the situation normalizes. The decision is part of heightened security measures being implemented across the state, especially in sensitive coastal regions.
Speaking to reporters, Parameshwara said,
"The Chief Minister will hold a special meeting this evening to review preparedness. We will not approve any leave of the police at this time because we do not know when normalcy will return. The Centre will inform us. Till then, we have to be vigilant."
The Karnataka government has taken serious note of the evolving national security landscape and is focused on proactive coordination, particularly along the coastline stretching from Uttara Kannada to Dakshina Kannada. These areas are considered sensitive due to past wartime vulnerabilities.
Emphasizing the importance of coastal safety, Parameshwara said a three-tier security structure is already in place, comprising state police forces, port security units, and the Indian Navy.
To further fortify the state’s readiness, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will conduct a high-level meeting with Home and Revenue department officials. The agenda includes reviewing intelligence inputs, assessing resource deployment, and establishing rapid response protocols.
The Karnataka government’s prompt actions reflect the growing nationwide alert following India's military operations under Operation Sindoor and cross-border shelling incidents, including recent casualties in Jammu and Kashmir.
