Explosions rock Srinagar; drones shot down in Pokhran and Baramulla as India responds with full military preparedness
New Delhi / Srinagar / Jammu: The fragile ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan collapsed within hours of its announcement, as Pakistan launched artillery shelling and drone incursions across multiple sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB) on Saturday evening.
According to security sources, multiple explosions were reported in Srinagar, triggering a citywide blackout. Drone activity was detected over Pokhran in Rajasthan and Baramulla in North Kashmir, both of which were intercepted and neutralized by Indian forces.
High Alert in Border Zones
The Border Security Force (BSF) and the Indian Army have been placed on maximum alert. Official sources confirmed that the BSF has been instructed to retaliate with full force in the event of any further ceasefire violations.
“We will not allow Pakistan’s duplicity to go unanswered,” said a senior defence official.
CM Omar Abdullah Reacts
Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, expressing deep frustration, posted on social media:
“What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar.”
This reaction followed a sudden and widespread escalation that many experts now view as a strategic deception by Islamabad under the guise of peace talks.
Ceasefire Was Brokered by US Hours Ago
Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump had announced a ceasefire deal brokered between India and Pakistan, with both countries agreeing to halt military operations across land, air, and sea effective 5 PM IST.
That agreement now lies in tatters as reports of drone breaches and heavy shelling poured in from Rajouri, Poonch, and Akhnoor sectors as well.
