New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday reiterated his government’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and Naxalism, asserting that peace and security are critical prerequisites for unleashing the full economic potential of the Northeastern states.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the Rising North East Investors Summit, PM Modi celebrated the transformation of the region from a historically conflict-ridden area to an emerging powerhouse of development.

“There was a time when the Northeast was called just a border region. Today, it is at the forefront of India's growth,” PM Modi declared, underlining his government’s commitment to inclusive development.

• Gautam Adani – Adani Group

• Anil Agarwal – Vedanta Resources

• Along with several other business leaders from sectors such as infrastructure, energy, agri-business, and IT.

Their participation is expected to trigger a new wave of private sector-led investments, reinforcing the Northeast as India’s next big investment frontier.

Government’s Northeast Push:

The PM’s speech is part of a broader national narrative positioning the Northeast not just as a strategic location but as a gateway to Southeast Asia, under India's Act East Policy.
