With War Clouds Looming, Security Tightened Around Strategic Scientific Sites Across India—Byalalu Villagers Asked to Report Suspicious Movements

Bengaluru, May 11 (News Flash): As border tensions between India and Pakistan escalate rapidly, the Indian government has ramped up security at key national assets, including religious places, historical monuments, dams, defence-related installations, and strategic scientific research centres.

In line with these nationwide precautions, Byalalu village on the outskirts of Bengaluru, home to the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) critical radar facility, has been placed on high alert.

The site, located under the Tavarekere police station limits, hosts ISRO’s Deep Space Network operations—a vital component in India’s space missions, including the historic Chandrayaan-1. The radar system here plays a pivotal role in monitoring and controlling spacecraft missions.

Police, CISF on High Alert—Locals Urged to Report Suspicious Activity

Following instructions from top intelligence and defence agencies, local police units and CISF forces have intensified surveillance around the ISRO radar complex. In an unprecedented move, the Tavarekere police have launched a door-to-door awareness campaign in Byalalu and surrounding hamlets.

“We appeal to residents to remain vigilant. If you notice any unknown person, vehicle, or unusual movement near the radar station or anywhere in the village, immediately inform the Tavarekere police station or the CISF security personnel on site,”
said a senior police official from Bengaluru Rural district.

This increased security comes amid fears of sabotage or reconnaissance activities by hostile elements, especially in light of rising military activity near the LoC and recent confessions by Pakistan’s military about involvement in cross-border terror plots.

Strategic Importance of Byalalu’s ISRO Unit

The radar station at Byalalu, instrumental in the Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan missions, is one of ISRO’s most sensitive assets. It communicates with satellites and interplanetary missions far beyond Earth's orbit.

“This is not just a local site. This is India’s gateway to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. Its protection is a matter of national pride and security,”
noted a retired ISRO scientist.

With war-like tension looming and Pakistan’s strategic posture under scrutiny, security agencies believe that scientific institutions such as ISRO could be high-value targets for intelligence gathering or cyber disruption.

Nation on Alert, Surveillance Intensifies Across Scientific and Defence Assets

The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed state police and paramilitary units to ensure multi-layered security at defence labs, nuclear facilities, and aerospace research hubs. Drones, patrol teams, and night surveillance have been deployed at sensitive sites, including those in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi.

Officials warn that such precautionary steps are not merely routine protocol but part of a proactive counter-terror strategy amidst a volatile regional environment.
