US President Announces Peace Deal; India and Pakistan Agree to Immediate Truce and Dialogue, Global Leaders Welcome Move

New Delhi/Washington: In a major diplomatic breakthrough, US President Donald Trump has announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire, following weeks of escalating military tensions triggered by the Pahalgam terror attack and subsequent retaliatory strikes under ‘Operation Sindoor’.

“I am happy to announce this deal,” Trump stated in a report published by Reuters, further adding on social media platform X:
“India and Pakistan have agreed to a ceasefire. They have shown wisdom and have agreed to pursue peace through dialogue.”

The announcement comes as a relief amid rising concerns of a full-scale conflict between the two nuclear-armed nations, with several rounds of cross-border attacks, air raids, and high-alert security measures in place since late April.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also confirmed the agreement, stating:

“Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region without compromising its sovereignty and territorial integrity. India has also agreed to a ceasefire.”

The ceasefire deal, brokered by the US, is being hailed by world leaders and international peace bodies, with hopes it will bring stability to a volatile region. Analysts see this as a temporary de-escalation, though both nations remain on high alert.

The Indian government, while yet to issue a formal statement, is expected to engage in bilateral diplomatic channels in the coming days.
