BBMP Team Files FIR After Foul Stench from Mahadevapura Apartment Leads to Police Intervention
Bengaluru: A shocking incident has emerged from Mahadevapura’s Akme Ballet Apartments, where a 38‑year‑old woman allegedly kept the decomposed body of her pet Labrador inside her flat for days, prompting a police complaint filed by the BBMP animal husbandry wing.
The woman, Triparna Paik from West Bengal, was found living with her dog's carcass two days after it died. Despite the visible foul odour, she refused entry to BBMP officials around 11 AM on Thursday, forcing them to call the police control room first.
“A dog lover who once owned four Labradors, she possibly kept the carcass out of depression following her company’s collapse during COVID,”
BBMP veterinary assistant director Dr K L Rudresh Kumar stated.
Police discovered two other neglected Labradors inside, and the dead dog's carcass amidst deity photographs. Neighbours alleged possible black magic rituals, though officials found no concrete evidence of such practices.
The FIR, lodged under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, includes charges of animal cruelty, negligent acts that could spread infection, and obstruction of public servants. The surviving dogs have been rescued and sent for rehabilitation, while the woman, who has not yet been arrested, is undergoing verification and mental health assessment.
