Horrific Crime Near Skating Ground Under Channammanakere Limits; Body Discovered Tied and Dumped in Gunny Bag
Bengaluru: A gruesome case of suspected rape and murder has shaken the city after the body of an unidentified woman, aged between 30–35 years, was found stuffed in a gunny bag and dumped into a garbage truck near a skating ground under the jurisdiction of Channammanakere Achukattu Police Station.
The chilling discovery was made in the early hours of Sunday, when a local man, who had come to dispose of garbage, noticed strands of human hair sticking out of a bag inside a parked garbage truck. He immediately alerted the police, who reached the scene and confirmed the presence of a female corpse.
“The woman’s hands and neck were tied, and her body had been dumped in a gunny bag. The incident likely occurred between 1 AM and 3 AM,”
said Joint Commissioner of Police C Vamsi Krishna, who is overseeing the investigation.
Body Dumped from Auto, CCTV Footage Reveals
Preliminary CCTV footage accessed by the police revealed that a lone suspect brought the woman's body in an auto-rickshaw and disposed of it in the garbage truck under the cover of darkness.
“The auto can be seen arriving late at night. One person gets out and throws the body bag into the truck before fleeing the scene.”
a police official said.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, and investigators are working to establish the woman’s identity and the exact cause of death. While the possibility of sexual assault has not been ruled out, confirmation will depend on the autopsy report.
