Nagarajappa, a 45-year-old Police Sub-Inspector from Davangere, was found dead after four days; the suicide note blamed family problems
Tumakuru: In a tragic incident, a Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) identified as Nagarajappa (45), hailing from Davangere, was found dead by suicide at a lodge in Tumakuru city. The incident came to light four days after the PSI had checked into the Dwarka Hotel, located in the city.
According to police sources, Nagarajappa had rented a room on the 4th floor of the hotel at 7 AM on July 1, but had not been seen since. Repeated attempts by hotel staff to contact him went unanswered. A foul smell emanating from the room raised an alarm, prompting the staff to alert the hotel management.
When the door was forcibly opened, the shocking discovery was made: PSI Nagarajappa had died by hanging himself, and his body was found in a decomposed state, infested with worms, indicating he had been dead for several days.
Following this, Tumakuru city police rushed to the scene and launched an investigation. The body was shifted to the Tumkur District Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
A two-page death note was found in the room, in which Nagarajappa wrote:
“I am the cause of my death.”
He further stated that a family dispute was the reason for his extreme step and offered an apology to the hotel owner for the incident that occurred on the premises.
The police have registered a case and are continuing the investigation. The incident has sent shockwaves across the police department and among the local residents.
