AAP Karnataka’s State Working President accuses Siddaramaiah-led Congress government of exploiting central schemes, pushing the state into financial crisis
Bengaluru: Sitaram Gundappa, State Working President of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Karnataka, has launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led state government, accusing it of misleading the public by falsely attributing the rise in Karnataka's per capita income to its guarantee schemes, even as lakhs of women across the state await promised payments.
"Is This Not Shameful?" — Gundappa Slams Guarantee Scheme Delays
Gundappa pointed out that since February, lakhs of women have not received their entitled monthly transfers, despite being part of the Congress's much-publicised household income schemes. He alleged that the funds are released only during elections, as a political tactic.
"Aren't Congress leaders ashamed to say that the state is first in per capita income without releasing the guarantee money?"

Central Schemes Rebranded as State Initiatives, Says AAP
The AAP leader criticised the Congress government's portrayal of central schemes like the Food Security Act as state-led programs.
“Under the Food Security Act, the central government provides 5 kg of rice per person. It is shameful that Congress is projecting this as their own initiative under Annabhagya,” he said.
Collapse of Griha Jyoti Scheme, Price Hike Burden on Citizens
Gundappa alleged that the Griha Jyoti scheme, which initially promised 300 units of free electricity, is no longer functional. He claimed that consumers now receive less than 50 units, and instead face increased electricity charges.
“Now they are collecting more from common people by raising tariffs and enforcing smart meters. This is daylight extortion,” he said.
Transport Crisis Under Shakti Scheme
Slamming the Congress for unscientific implementation of its Shakti free transport scheme for women, Gundappa said it has wrecked punctuality and service quality in the state’s public transport network.
“Passengers are frustrated. Buses no longer run on time. Transport corporations are under stress,” he claimed.
Yuva Nidhi Scheme Is A Black Box, Alleges Gundappa
He further alleged that the Yuva Nidhi scheme, aimed at assisting unemployed graduates, lacks transparency and data.
“Even the government doesn’t know which youth have received support. That shows how poorly the scheme is being run,” he said.
People, Not Politicians, Are the Reason Behind Karnataka’s Economic Growth: AAP
He credited the state’s economic performance to farmers, IT professionals, small business owners, and youth—not government guarantees.
“Farmers have worked hard, youth have achieved excellence in private and tech sectors, and Bengaluru has contributed enormously to the national economy,” Gundappa said.
He also pointed out that Bengaluru alone contributes the highest tax revenues to the country, underlining that Karnataka’s high per capita income is due to the enterprise and effort of its people.
“Congress Is Lying to the Public” — Gundappa Warns
“The Congress must stop this farce of claiming credit for people’s achievements. The truth is, they’ve pushed Karnataka into a debt trap with over Rs 3.5 lakh crore in loans across three budgets,” he said.
He warned that the state is inching toward financial ruin, comparing the Congress approach to AAP Delhi’s decade-long model, which he said focuses on scientific, sustainable, and people-first governance.
