Students vow to uphold the ideals of freedom fighters and work for a socialist, exploitation-free India
Bengaluru: On the occasion of the 79th Independence Day, the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) observed Students’ Pledge Day on Thursday, reaffirming their commitment to the values and sacrifices of India’s freedom struggle.
Participants recalled the glorious struggle and sacrifices of lakhs of freedom fighters, from the pioneers of the renaissance to revolutionary leaders like Bhagat Singh and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, who envisioned a socialist nation free from hunger, unemployment, exploitation, and inequality.
Pledge for a Just and Equal Society
The pledge envisioned a nation “where no child is hungry, no youth is unemployed, women live with dignity, peasants and workers are respected and at peace, and labour is not looted for the benefit of a few.”
On the day, participants also remembered Bhagat Singh’s clarion call:
“Let us declare that the state of war does exist and shall exist so long as the Indian toiling masses and their natural resources are being exploited by a handful of parasites.”
Citywide Observance
Students’ Pledge Day was organised across the city in schools, colleges, and public grounds, with students, teachers, and members of the public participating enthusiastically. They took the pledge with a firm resolve to uphold the unity, sacrifice, and dedication of freedom fighters in working for the people’s cause.
