During the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign in Bellara village, Gram Panchayat Development Officer Thippeswamy urged citizens to adopt cleanliness as a daily lifestyle
Chikkanayakanahalli: Stressing that a healthy society can be built only with a clean environment, Gram Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) Thippeswamy called upon villagers to actively participate in the cleanliness movement. Speaking at the third-day program of the Swachhta Hi Seva campaign in Bellara village under Hoysalakatte Gram Panchayat, he said the initiative should not remain a one-day event but become a part of everyday life.
Cleanliness as a Lifestyle
Addressing the gathering, Thippeswamy remarked, “Cleanliness is not just a government project, it should become everyone’s lifestyle. Only when temples, schools, streets, and houses are kept clean everywhere, the village become beautiful. Everyone, from children to the elderly, should join hands in cleanliness. Both our health and development depend on cleanliness.”
Citizens’ Duty Beyond the Panchayat Staff
Reinforcing the PDO’s message, Gram Panchayat Secretary Bhaskar Raju stated that keeping the village clean was not only the duty of Panchayat staff but of every citizen.
“A truly clean village can be built only when one keeps their house, streets and surrounding areas clean. It is our responsibility to instil a culture of cleanliness in schoolchildren. If they give importance to cleanliness, future generations can also lead a healthy life,” Bhaskar Raju said.
Community Participation in the Campaign
The program saw active participation from Gram Panchayat members, including Lokamma Bhutaraju, PDO Thippeswamy, Secretary Bhaskar Raju, Bill Collector Kantharaju, and water distributors Lokesh, Shivanna, Vasantappa, Bhutanna, Dasappa, Sadashiva, along with several villagers.
The campaign emphasised that cleanliness is a shared responsibility that requires collective efforts from both citizens and officials to achieve sustainable community development.
