Bengaluru: A man allegedly stabbed his wife for not attending his sister's engagement. The incident, which occurred on Thursday at 9 am, has been registered under the Kamakshipalya police station. However, it only came to light on Sunday.
The accused, identified as 32-year-old Jayaprakash, was arrested for stabbing his 26-year-old wife, Divyashree. The attack took place at a residence near Solapuramma temple in Sunkadakatte.
Despite facing opposition from their parents, the couple, deeply in love, tied the knot in 2019 and resided in Mudalapalya in the city. Divyashree took on the responsibility of managing the household expenses as her husband, Jayaprakash, was grappling with health-related issues.
Trouble brewed on Thursday when Jayaprakash grew suspicious of his wife's activities and confronted her about a phone call. Matters escalated when he initiated a quarrel over her absence at his sister's engagement and proceeded to attack Divyashree with a knife, causing stab wounds to her leg.
Currently undergoing treatment at K.C. General Hospital, Divyashree filed a complaint with the Kamakshipalya police station, leading to the registration of a case. Jayaprakash, the accused, has been arrested by the authorities.
